Maksim Zagornov highly appreciated the results of the business mission of Business Russia to the UAE
The business mission of the All-Russian public organization Business Russia to the United Arab Emirates has been completed. The delegation of Russian entrepreneurs, led by the organization's Business Ambassador to the UAE, President of the Distributed Power Generation Association Maksim Zagornov, successfully performed at the 23rd International Exhibition on Water Treatment, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX-2021 in Dubai. The combined exposition aroused great interest among the exhibitors. In just three days, more than 50 meetings and strategic negotiations with representatives of business and the UAE government took place at the organization's stand. Specific agreements were reached on the development of joint projects in the United Arab Emirates.
The 23rd International Exhibition on Water Treatment, Energy Technologies and Environmental Protection WETEX-2021 is one of the most authoritative exhibitions of this profile in the world. It is held under the patronage of Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The exhibition is organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). This year, WETEX-2021 was held at the World Exhibition EXPO-2021 and brought together more than 1200 companies from 55 countries, 45500 people from different parts of the world became visitors. Business Russia also presented its stand in the northern pavilion of WETEX.
The delegation included 24 entrepreneurs representing the interests of 10 Russian leading companies operating in the field of small distributed energy, mechanical engineering, oil and gas and chemical industries, water technologies, IT, renewable energy sources: MKC Group of Companies, Industrial Energy Service Technologies LLC, FIC Cosmos-Oil-Gas, REO LLC, Cyberphysics LLC, ICETECH, M-Cycle Industries Inc, Alprom LLC, as well as the Institute of Arctic Technologies of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Within the framework of a single stand, they presented their own innovations and technologies, held meetings and strategic negotiations, and outlined ways for further cooperation.
The exposition of Russian enterprises aroused great interest among the participants of the exhibition — more than 50 meetings with representatives of business and the authorities of the UAE were held at the stand of Business Russia. The joint stand was visited by DEWA Vice President Abdul Syed Abdul Hameed, DEWA Vice President Yousef Ebrahim Al-Akraf, Director of Stakeholders of Dubai Economy Department Ali Habib Al Khalsan, Business Gate founder, UN Goodwill Ambassador Laila Rahhall, CEO of Ajman Free Zone Ali bin Towaih Al Suwaidi, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates Oleg Fomin, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the UAE Ara Melikyan, representatives of the business community of the United Arab Emirates. In addition, for three days, the participants in the business mission conducted a series of substantive b2b negotiations.
During the meetings, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation, the possibility of creating joint production in the UAE, promoting Russian projects in the UAE market. Thus, the Arab partners expressed great interest in distributed generation facilities (mini-CHP), which were presented by President of the Distributed Power Generation Association, Director of MKC Group of Companies Maksim Zagornov. DEWA representatives appreciated the mobility of power plants, the speed of assembly of the facility, its environmental friendliness, as well as the possibility of making a hybrid version of the project.
The Russian project of the International Arctic Station Snowflake, operating on the basis of renewable energy sources and hydrogen energy, also evoked particular interest of business representatives and investors in the UAE. The world's first completely carbon-free Arctic scientific and educational complex at the stand of Business Russia was presented by Executive Director of the Institute of Arctic Technologies of the MIPT Yury Vasiliev.
Technological startups were also presented at the Business Russia stand. The Emirati partners were particularly interested in the development of the M-Cycle Industries Inc of creating a fundamentally new heat pump on the Maysotsenko cycle, combining the functions of an air conditioner, recuperator, humidifier and air heater. And also, the technology of the ICETECH company, which allows you to freeze fresh water, create artificial icebergs measuring 400x400x200 meters and send them by towing to regions in dire need of clean fresh water.
During the presentations at Business Russia stand, Arab business expressed interest in projects based on renewable energy sources. The UAE is committed to building a green economy. According to the country's strategy, by 2050, renewable energy sources should account for 75% of electricity. To achieve these goals, DEWA is implementing several innovative projects, which on the eve of the Business Russia business mission at WETEX-2021, during an online session, DEWA Vice President Abdul Syed Abdul Hameed spoke about.
Appreciating the huge contribution of DEWA to the development of green energy and the consolidation of efforts for sustainable development, as well as the technological innovation of projects in the field of solar and hydrogen energy, Business Russia Ambassador to the UAE, President of the Distributed Power Generation Association Maksim Zagornov presented the Vice President of DEWA Abdul Syed Abdul Hameed the International Award Distributed Power Generation — Great Achievements.

Mr. Hameed thanked the organizers of the award for the high appreciation of the work of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and noted that today DEWA is faced with the task of consolidating the efforts of representatives of different countries for sustainable development. An important role in this process is played by the WETEX International Exhibition, which demonstrates the most advanced technologies and innovations. Vice President of DEWA expressed hope that the Business Russia delegation will take part in the WETEX exhibition in 2022 as well.
As part of the business mission to the United Arab Emirates, on October 6, an excursion of the Business Russia delegation to the EXPO-2020 World Exhibition took place. The concept of the Russian pavilion was presented by general director of the Eventica agency Sergei Kolushev. As Maksim Zagornov noted, the business mission of Business Russia at EXPO-2020 is scheduled for December 2021.
